History

Saucelito Irrigation District, located eight miles southwest of Porterville, was formed on July 29, 1941, to secure a much-needed supplemental water supply.

Today, the Friant Canal provides Class 1 (21,500 AF) and Class 2 (32,800 AF) surface water through 55.5 miles of pipeline to our District.

With our long, hot growing season, Saucelito ID is ideal for agriculture. The District services approximately 88 farming entities within our 19,387 acres.

When the District first began, the crops were a rotating seasonal crop. Today, most of our crops are permanent.

We are proud to say it’s Saucelito ID’s commitment to care for and effectively manage and maintain our precious water resources.
